I’m trying out Twitter after hearing TWiT talk about it for over a year now. Its very simple and I’m trying to find out some uses for it. I’m only a few days in and have somehow attracted some followers. It’ll probably become my outlet for work updates in regards to the “reduction in force”. This year is shaping up to be awfully depressing.

Posted in General on November 12th, 2008 by RyanThe reality of the layoffs is too much to handle now that it has had time to sink in. Of course, its not exactly the end of the world but when you just got yourself into a nice stride and something comes along to bump you out of step, its definately unwelcomed. Even if my job is safe, other programs could be at risk for “trimming”. My education is paid for by work. Reimbursed 100%. At this moment, I’m told that the tuition reimbursement program is “safe” and there are no plans currently to reduce any percentage of what the company will pay.
Rockwell Collins cuts 300 jobs, moves to cut costs

Its public now that Rockwell Collins is cutting jobs and tightening up their programs to save money due to the economic stress on the company. Out of the 300 jobs to be cut, an estimated 30-40 will come from Melbourne operations. I’m not too worried right now in hopes that some new contracts within my division will pick up production for us and I will have some job security.
